Women's Golf Takes Runner-Up At Walsh Invitational; Wins St. Vincent InvitationalThe Malone College women's golf team finished runner-up at the six-team Walsh University Invitational last Monday but took first place at the St. Vincent (PA) College Invitational among a seven-team field last Thursday.
At Walsh, Malone fired a score of 357 which was just one shot behind host Walsh (356) as Tiffin University was third (373), Seton Hill (PA) University placed fourth (387) and Mt. Union College rounded out the top five (391).
Leading the way for Malone were Heather Grovemiller (So., Perry H.S.) and Megan Grubb (Fr., Lake H.S.) who each tallied 87's on the day. Jenna Eason (Fr., Pahrump, Nevada) carded a 91, Carie Kindler (Fr., Sheridan H.S.) posted a 92 and Heather Hall (Fr., Bellefontaine H.S.) recorded a 99.
At St. Vincent, Malone posted a score of 361 to easily outdistance runner-up Walsh, which had a 374. Seton Hill took third (383), Ohio Dominican was fourth (409) and Washington & Jefferson (PA) College rounded out the top five (427).
Kindler took individual medalist honors at the event with a round of 86 while teammate Grubb was second overall at 87. Grovemiller followed with a 92, Eason tallied a 96, Hall posted a 97 and Marissa Brown (Jr., John Glenn H.S.) fired a 107.
This week, Malone will compete at the Seton Hill Invitational on Monday.
