Women's Golf Places Second At NAIA Region IX Tournament

The Malone College women's golf team earned a second-place finish among four teams at the NAIA Region IX Championship held at the Sleepy Hollow Golf Course on May 6th to close out the 2004 season.  Walsh University won the event with a score of 375 followed by the Pioneers with a 414.  Seton Hill (PA) University (447) and St. Vincent (PA) College (482) finished third and fourth, respectively.

Heather Grovemiller (Fr., Perry H.S.) tied for fifth with a round of 96, including a 49 on the front nine and a 47 on the back nine.  In addition, Grovemiller was named to the All-Conference Team.  Laura Collier (Sr., Jackson H.S.) shot a round of 105 (11th place) followed by Rebecca Costello (Sr., Worthington Christian H.S.) with a 106 (tied for 12th place) and Marissa Brown (So., John Glenn H.S.) with a 107 (14th place).  Sarah Doll (Sr., Coldwater H.S.) also competed for the Pioneer team but was DQ'd.
