is available to and from the Johnson Center beginning at
10:30am.from behind the Brehme Centennial Center. Look for the balloon
arch. Shuttle service will also be available beginning at 12:00pm to
bring families back to
the Brehme Centennial Center for lunch.
9:00am-4:00pm The Advising and Testing Office (CC102) is
open all week to help students who have not previously registered or
those who need to make schedule changes.

Old-fashioned box/picnic lunch. Herbert W. Hoover Courtyard
Pick up your lunch in the Hoover Dining Commons. You may eat in
our dining hall or take your picnic to the Herbert W. Hoover Courtyard.
All students and their guests are invited.You will need to use the
ticket(s) you received at check-in.(Commuter students may eat, as our
guest in our Dining Hall through Sunday, August 24. You will need to
show your student I.D.)

The following sessions are each offered two times:
1:30pm 2:00pm and 2:15pm 2:45pm You may attend any
two sessions.
1. Fine Arts Room # 120
Faculty members of the Fine Arts Department will discuss the many
opportunities available for students in both vocal and instrumental
music, out-reach groups and art.
2. Athletics Room 106A
Charlie Grimes, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, will
provide information about Malone’s athletic programs, training
facilities and athletic insurance.
3. Academics at Malone College Room 106B
William J.Friesen, PhD, Provost, will present this session
describing the Malone’s curriculum, opportunities for domestic and
international off-campus study programs, and recommendations for
student academic success.
4. Spiritual Life Room 236
Randy Heckert, Malone Pastor, Linda Leon, Director of Campus
Ministries, Celia King, Director of Service-Learning, and the Student
Directors of Spiritual Life will discuss the various opportunities
available for students to become involved in spiritual growth and
campus ministries.
5. Campus Life Room 105
Rae Showen, Director of Student Activities, will discuss the
importance of balanced co-curricular involvement as it relates to a
healthy holistic college experience. She will present the diverse
menu of involvement opportunities for students of all interest levels
and discuss how campus involvement relates to overall student
satisfaction at Malone College.
6. School of Nursing Room CDC Gym
Christy Pester, Assistant Professor of Nursing, and Robin Adams
Weber, Assistant Professor of Nursing, will present "Malone Nursing". A
question
and answer time will follow.
7. Letting Go: A Parent’s Transition From High School to College Room 122
Jo Glover, Assistant Director of Malone Counseling Center,
facilitates this very timely session. This session examines various
developmental stages that adolescents face and offers practical
ideas to help parents with the college transition, to locate that
balance between letting go and overly helping, and to help reduce guilt
over not being able to do more.
8. What Parents Need to Know About Financial Aid and Paying The Bills The Chapel
Pam Pustay, Director of Financial Aid, and Ron Messner, The
College Controller, will facilitate this very important session. Topics
to be covered include all aspects of financial aid; payment plans;
check cashing policy, food service and the bookstore.
9. Malone’s Heritage Room 107A
John Russell, Director of Admissions, presents a reflection and a
challenge of Malone’s Heritage. The legacy we enjoy as a prominent
Christian college and how a “Look Back” will aid us as we “Look Ahead”.
10. Counseling and Student Health Centers Room 107B
The professional staffs of these two student services will provide
an overview of services for students, discuss confidentiality issues,
cover developmental tasks of college students and inform parents
how they can help their student get needed services.
11. Information Technology Room 101
Clark Hoopes, Director of Information Technologies presents an overview
of computer and media services available at Malone. Topics include:
Internet, email, and wireless, all campus computer Services in the
residence halls, library, class rooms and computer labs will be
reviewed and discussed. We also will look ahead at future campus
technology plans.
12. Career Development Center Room 106C
Doug Reichenberger, Director of Career Development Center and
Colleen Winney, Assistant Director, will present an overview of
services and resources provided for career planning, experiential
learning, and job search development. There will be a demonstration of
the online career assessment system called MyPlan that will assist
students in making their career plans. They will also give examples of
internships in which Malone students participate and they will provide
statistical information regarding the status of recent graduates. In
addition, suggestions will be offered to parents regarding ways they
can encourage and assist their students with the career planning and
development process.
13. Student Access Services Room 103
(Offered first session only) Anna Meadows, Director of Student
Access Services, will provide information to parents about services
available to students with physical, learning, or psychological
disabilities.
