Film Forum Schedule

Malone Film Forum

The purpose of the Film Forum is to help students reflect on film from the perspective of a biblical worldview.  The Spring 2008 Film Forum schedule is shown below, as are helpful articles about faith and culture.  If you have suggestions about a movie that can be shown and discussed in the future, please email Director of Campus Ministries Linda Leon at lleon2@malone.edu.

All films are shown at 7:30 p.m. in the Stewart Room of the Randall Campus Center.  After each movie, faculty and staff give films critiques and lead large-group discussions.  Snacks are provided; bring a blanket or floor pillow for comfortable viewing.

Wednesday, January 30
3:10 to Yuma (2007)

The film, a remake of the 1957 movie of the same name, is a modern Western with deeper psychological layers.  It portrays a West that is stark, barren and morally ambiguous, as we follow the stories of a rancher and an outlaw on their personal quests for honor and redemption.
Wednesday, March 26
Michael Clayton (2007)

The tagline of the film, "The Truth Can Be Adjusted", sums up the twisted corporate worldview permeating this film, against which some of its characters must ultimately do battle.  Join us for the film and post-film discussion which will undoubtedly center around personal and corporate identity, ethics, and choices.

Developing Skills in Discernment

What questions can we ask of movies, art, literature and music which will help us navigate a biblical response to culture?  Please see this link for an important discussion and lists of questions.
