Spring Arbor Defeats Malone 3-0The Malone College women’s soccer team suffered a 3-0 road loss to NAIA #14 Spring Arbor (MI) University on Monday afternoon. The host Cougars held a 1-0 advantage at halftime and then added two quick goals midway through the second stanza to pull away for the 3-0 win. With the loss, Malone dropped to 2-4-0 on the year while Spring Arbor improved to 5-0-2.
Malone registered seven shots on goal during the match, but the squad was unable to get on the scoreboard as Cougar keeper Christina Riske made seven saves for her third shutout of the year. Spring Arbor tallied 10 shots on goal while Malone goal keepers Merisa Salazar (Jr., San Jose, CA) and Sam Brown (Jr., Butler, PA) combined to post seven saves.
The Pioneers will return to action on Thursday (9/20) evening when they travel to Steubenville, Ohio for a 4:00 p.m. match-up with Franciscan University (2-2-1). |
