Malone Defeats Point Park (PA) 2-0

 
The Malone College women’s soccer team picked up a 2-0 victory at home over American Mideast Conference North Division foe Point Park (PA) University on Saturday afternoon.  With the win, Malone's record now stands at 4-4-0 overall with a 1-1-0 mark in AMC North play while Point Park dropped to 2-4-0 (0-1-0 AMC North).
 
In Saturday’s home match with Point Park, the contest remained scoreless until the 78th minute of play as forward Aleesha Denmeade (Jr., North Canton Hoover H.S.) scored off an assist from midfielder Fleur Wynn-Morgan (Sr., County Kerry, Ireland) to put Malone in front 1-0.  Midfielder Ashley Dennerlein (Jr., Baden, PA) then assisted forward Alysia Ramirez (Jr., San Jose, CA) on a goal with just over two minutes remaining on the clock to cement the 2-0 conference win.  Malone tallied 15 shots on goal during the contest while Point Park keeper Emily Tomalewski made 13 saves.  Malone goal keeper Merisa Salazar (Jr., San Jose, CA), meanwhile, stopped all 14 shots that she faced to record her second shutout of the season.
 
This week, Malone (4-4-0, 1-1-0 AMC N) will compete in three matches starting with a 7:00 p.m. contest at Carlow (PA) University (0-6-0, 0-2-0 AMC N) on Tuesday evening.  The squad will then host Kentucky Christian University (1-6-0) on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. before traveling to Rochester, New York on Saturday to face Roberts Wesleyan College (3-6-0, 2-1-0 AMC N) at 12:30 p.m.
