Pioneers Finish Second Among Six At Red Poling Collegiate ClassicThe Malone College men's golf team posted a second-place finish among a six-team field at the Red Poling Collegiate Classic in Spring Arbor, Michigan on Tuesday (Sept. 25) as the Pioneers tallied a score of 308 while Hope (MI) College took the team title with a score of 298. Spring Arbor University placed third at 320, Monmouth (IL) College and Calvin (MI) College tied for fourth at 332, and Augustana (IL) College finished sixth at 339.
Justin Lower (Fr., Northwest H.S.) paced the team with a round of 75 to finish in a tie for fourth overall while Ben Smith (So., Carrollton H.S.) was right behind at 76. Other Malone scores included Quinn Parker (Fr., Canton Central Catholic H.S.) at 78, Michael Strayer (So., Riverside H.S.) at 79 and Darren Phipps (Sr., Lake H.S.) at 83. Malone will next compete at the NCCAA National Championships at the Edgewater Beach Resort, Hombre Golf Course, in Panama City, Florida October 8-9. |
