Malone Finishes Seventh At NCCAA Nationals

The Malone College men's golf team finished in seventh place among an 18-team field at the NCCAA National Championships in Panama City, Florida October 8-9.  At the Hombre Golf Course, Malone fired a two-day total of 611 (305-306) for its seventh-place finish while Southeastern (OK) University won the national title at 597 (298-299).  Olivet Nazarene (IL) University was the runner-up at 606, North Greenville (SC) College was third at 607, Spring Arbor (MI) University was fourth at 609 and Cedarville University and Southern Wesleyan (SC) University tied for fifth at 610.

Justin Lower (Fr., Northwest H.S.) paced Malone with a two-day score of 145 (75-70) as he finished fifth overall and earned NCCAA All-America honors.  Darren Phipps (Sr., Lake H.S.) followed with a 152 (75-77) to tie for 14th place overall.  Other Malone scores were Michael Strayer (So., Riverside H.S.) at 154 (74-80), Quinn Parker (Fr., Canton Central Catholic H.S.) at 161 (81-80) and Ben Smith (So., Carrollton H.S.) at 164 (85-79).
