Six Malone Men’s Soccer Players Receive All-AMC North Accolades

In recognition of their strong play during the 2007 season, six members of the Malone College men’s soccer team earned recognition on the All-AMC North Division Team.

Senior defender George Tagaris (Queens, New York) and sophomore forward Marcos Batchelor (London, England) were both named to the All-AMC North Second Team while senior midfielder Lucas Martorana (Warren, Ohio), junior midfielder Zach Rausch (Cuyahoga Falls H.S.), senior defender Jason Nelson (Green H.S.) and senior goal keeper Mike Porter (Highland H.S.) were each voted All-AMC North Honorable Mention.

Tagaris anchored a strong Malone defense that tallied a 1.77 goals-against average this season while Batchelor paced the Malone offense with five goals and three assists. Rausch followed with four goals and tied Batchelor for the team lead in assists with three.  Nelson and Martorana, meanwhile, each notched two goals on the year and made significant defensive contributions.  Porter had another strong season in front of the net as he posted 63 saves with a 1.91 goals-against average.

The Pioneers concluded their 2007 campaign with a 6-10-2 overall record and a 2-3 mark in the AMC North Division.
