Malone Basketball’s Kellyn Murphy Earns All-AMC Second Team Honors, NCCAA East Region Accolades

            Kellyn Murphy, a senior guard on the Malone College women’s basketball team, recently collected a pair of post season honors after she completed her fourth and final intercollegiate season at Malone.

 

           The 5’8” guard from Hartville , Ohio (St. Vincent-St. Mary H.S.) earned Second Team All-AMC North Division honors and also was voted First Team NCCAA All-East Region.  Murphy led her team in points this season with 15.4 points per game and also paced the team in assists at 2.3 per outing.  In addition, she also led her team in steals (1.9) and in free throw percentage (.725) and was third in rebounds at 5.9 per game.
 
            Malone finished the season at 7-20 overall and at 5-9 in the American Mideast Conference North Division.  The Pioneers missed the AMC postseason by the narrowest of margins as they lost a tiebreaker to Ursuline College for the final playoff spot.
 
            Murphy is an Education-Intervention Specialist major at Malone.  She is the daughter of Mark and Pam Murphy of 1020 Ruby St, Hartville.
