Six Malone Softball Players Receive NCCAA East Region Recognition

Six Malone College softball players earned All-NCCAA East Region honors in recent NCCAA voting. Sophomore outfielder Laura Blackburn (Thomas Worthington H.S.), freshman shortstop/second baseman Sarah Kosmos (Northwest H.S.) and freshman catcher Laura Ronk (St. Vincent–St. Mary H.S.) were each selected to the NCCAA East All-Region Team while junior starting pitcher Ashleigh Ralston (Wadsworth H.S.), sophomore outfielder Morgan Heacock (Mt. Gilead H.S.) and freshman starting pitcher Jessica Krska (Norton H.S.) were each awarded NCCAA East All-Region Honorable Mention honors.

Blackburn has played in all but one of Malone’s 24 games this year and is leading the team in RBI’s with 17 and in doubles with 10 while posting a .358 batting average. Kosmos has proven to be a key asset for the team this year as she leads the Pioneers with a .389 batting average and is second with a .450 on base percentage.  Ronk has started all but three games behind the plate this year and has posted a .339 batting average which is fourth-best on the team.

Ralston has started in 10 games for the Pioneers and has compiled a 5-5 record with a 3.07 earned run average while posting an impressive .976 fielding percentage. Heacock has played in all 24 games this season while leading the team in hits (26), runs (21), triples (4), stolen bases (11), and on base percentage (.453).  Her .388 batting average is also second best on the team.  Krska has started nine games for Malone compiling a 3-4 record as well as notching the team’s only save.

Malone is currently standing at 10-14 overall this year with a 4-8 record in the AMC North Division.
