Canton McKinley’s Ashton Avery To Compete In Cross Country, Track & Field At Malone College
Ashton Avery, of
Canton
and a senior at
McKinley
High School
, has recently signed a national letter of intent to attend
Malone
College
in the fall and participate in cross country and track & field for the Pioneers.
Avery lettered four years in cross country and four years in track for the Bulldogs. She has garnered numerous awards and accolades throughout her high school career including being named
All-Stark
County
and First Team All-Federal League, in addition to receiving team MVP honors and the McKinley Athletic Booster Award. Avery is a three-time state qualifier and her personal best time for the 800-meter run is 2:16. She has also excelled academically at McKinley, earning the Ohio Lottery Academic All-Star award and the Wendy’s High School Heisman. Avery was named an Academic All-Ohioan as a freshman and recently received the Omega Psi Phi Scholarship.
Avery intends to major in Nursing at Malone. She is the daughter of Rhonda Gantz of 414 Warner Road S.E., Canton.
