Fredonia’s Hope Newton To Play Basketball At Malone College

Hope Newton, of Fredonia, New York and a 2008 graduate of Fredonia High School, recently signed a national letter of intent to attend Malone College in the fall and play basketball for the Pioneers.
 
Newton, a 5’10” forward, lettered two years in basketball, one year in cross country, and one year in track & field for the Hillbillies, garnering numerous awards throughout her high school career.   She collected All-League (CCIAC Division I) Honorable Mention accolades, received the WDOE Leadership Award, and was selected to play in the Western New York Senior All-Star Game.  Newton, the only senior on Fredonia’s squad last year, also served as the team captain and was selected for the Coach’s Award.
 
In addition to her athletic accomplishments, Newton also excelled in the classroom, receiving CCAA Scholar Athlete recognition and the President’s Education Award for Academic Excellence.  She graduated in the Top 10 of her class this spring and was a member of Fredonia’s Business and Marketing Honor Society.
 
Newton plans to major in Business Administration at Malone and is the daughter of Wayne and Pamela Newton of 42 Carol Avenue, Fredonia.
