Free Tutoring Program Through America Reads/America Counts

Malone College will be participating in the America Reads/America Counts free tutoring program for the 2008-2009 school year.  Half-hour tutoring sessions in reading, math, or both are held Monday through Thursday from 3:30 pm – 7:30 pm beginning Monday, September 15.   Tutoring sessions take place in room #70 of Founders Hall on the campus located at 515 25th Street N.W. in Canton.  For more information or to schedule a tutoring session, please call 330-471-8569.
 
The program, now in its seventh year at Malone, is under the direction of Patti and Jack Freeder.  Patti retired from Coventry High School after teaching English for 32 years in grades 7 – 12.  Jack retired after teaching in the Coventry local school district for 33 years at the elementary and middle school level.  They bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the program. 
 
Tutors are Malone College students, most of whom are education majors.  Parents must remain on the premises during the tutoring session and a waiting room is provided.   The free program is available to all Stark County elementary students as well as those from surrounding counties.
