Malone Defeats Cincinnati Christian, 1-0

The Malone College men’s soccer team picked up a 1-0 non-conference victory on the road Saturday evening over Cincinnati Christian University.  The contest, which was held at Xavier University’s soccer complex, remained scoreless until late in the first half when forward Marcos Batchelor (Jr., London, England) scored to give the Pioneers a 1-0 advantage.  This single tally then stood up over the remainder of the match as the Malone defense clamped down, holding the Eagles scoreless the rest of the way to record the 1-0 triumph.  With the shutout win, Malone’s record improves to 2-3 overall while Cincinnati Christian drops to 0-5.

The Pioneers held a 9-3 advantage in shots on goal in Saturday's match as Malone keeper Warden Neuenschwander (So., Linden, VA) stopped all three shots that he faced to notch his second shutout of the year.

This week, Malone (2-3 overall, 1-1 AMC) will travel to NAIA No. 4 University of Rio Grande (6-0 overall, 0-0 AMC) on Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m. match.  The squad will then return home on Saturday to face Roberts Wesleyan (NY) College (4-0 overall, 2-0 AMC) at 12:30 p.m.
