The Malone College men’s soccer team dropped an American Mideast Conference match at home on Saturday afternoon to Roberts Wesleyan (NY) College by a final score of 3-0.  The Raiders jumped out to an early 1-0 advantage with a goal in the 12th minute of play and then later tacked on insurance scores in the 42nd and 88th minutes to secure the victory.  With the 3-0 defeat, the Pioneers’ record fell to 2-5 overall and 1-3 in the AMC while Roberts Wesleyan extended its season-opening winning streak to six games, improving its record to 6-0 overall and 3-0 against conference opponents.

The Raiders held a 16-2 advantage in total shots on goal in the contest as Malone keepers Warden Neuenschwander (Linden, VA) and Derek Jeffrey (Norton H.S.) combined to make 13 saves.

This week, Malone (2-5 overall, 1-3 AMC) will travel to NCAA Division II Lake Erie College (1-8 overall) on Tuesday for a 4:00 p.m. non-conference contest.  The squad will then return to AMC play on Saturday evening with a 7:30 p.m. match at Cedarville University (1-6-1 overall, 0-2-1 AMC).
