Roberts Wesleyan (NY) Registers 2-0 Win Over MaloneThe Malone College women’s soccer team fell at home on Saturday by a final score of 2-0 to American Mideast Conference foe Roberts Wesleyan (NY) College. The visiting Raiders jumped ahead 1-0 in the early going with a goal in the third of minute of play. After giving up this early score, the Pioneer defense clamped down, holding Roberts Wesleyan scoreless over the remainder of the first stanza and a majority of the second. Malone was unable to break through on the offensive end, however, and the Raiders tacked on a second goal in the final moments to cement the 2-0 victory. With the hard-fought defeat the Pioneers’ record fell to 1-5 overall and 1-3 in the AMC. Roberts Wesleyan, meanwhile, remained undefeated in conference play, improving its AMC mark to 4-0 (6-2-1 overall).
The Raiders held a 21-2 advantage in total shots on goal in the match. Malone keeper Vana Morgan (Sr., West Branch H.S.) made 19 saves on the afternoon while Roberts Wesleyan goalie Elizabeth Kennedy stopped both shots she faced to record her third shutout of the year.
This week, Malone (1-5 overall, 1-3 AMC) will travel to Ohio Dominican University (3-3 overall, 2-0 AMC) on Tuesday for a 7:00 p.m. match before returning home to face Carlow (PA) University on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. |
