Director of Financial Aid
About the position
This position is responsible for leading the administration of an established financial aid program (Federal, State and University funds) which includes overseeing the critical flow of all grant, loan and scholarship dollars while adhering to regulations with integrity, along with upholding the mission and vision of Malone University.
Essential duties, tasks and responsibilities
- Leads all financial aid counseling and workshops.
- Packages financial aid for new and returning students, including adjustments for changes in enrollment, residency, and employment status
- Manages scholarships and awards, ensuring compliance with donor requirements, academic standards, and athletic regulations
- Monitors Federal Work-Study and satisfactory academic progress for aid eligibility
- Ensures compliance with Federal Student Aid, NCAA and institutional policies, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of legislative and regulation changes
- Oversees all financial aid operations and systems
- Leads and coordinates the efforts and initiatives of the financial aid office and its staff to provide information and answers to questions relating to financial assistance available to students enrolled at the University
- Coordinates the interviews with students to obtain information needed to determine eligibility for aid and ensures that student data and applications document that eligibility requirements are met
- Determines amount of aid that is to be awarded to students considering such factors as funds available, extent of demand, and needs of students
- Develops, implements and maintains a strategic plan for the financial aid functional area in collaboration with the Vice President for Enrollment and Marketing
- Establishes the program outcomes for the financial aid functional area, monitors those outcomes, and develops plans of action for improvement based on the assessment of those outcomes.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration
- Three to five years of work experience as a Financial Aid Director or a progressively responsible supervisory role in financial aid
- Knowledge of federal and state financial aid programs and regulations
- Experience with personal computer applications, including MS Office Suite and Google Workspace
- Experience with PowerFaids/Jenzabar software operating systems.
