About the position
Provide leadership and supervision in the delivery of federal, state, institutional, foundation, and external grants and scholarships for students enrolled at Malone University.

Essential duties, tasks and responsibilities

Tasks assigned to the Director of Financial Aid:
- Train staff in the office
- Supervise and evaluate office staff
- Take student and parent appointments
- Package new students
- Package returning students
- Complete financial aid surveys
- Complete the FISAP report
- Complete internal reports needed on campus regarding financial aid
- Work to assure we remain compliant with all Federal Student Aid regulations
- Monitor Federal Work Study program
- Track, monitor and send letters for satisfactory academic progress, both overall and regarding academic scholarships
- Track, monitor and report athletic awards for each sport
- Present Malone specific financial aid workshops to parents of incoming students.
- Perform financial aid night workshops
- Represent the office at student and parent orientation events
- Chair the Financial Aid Committee in regard to programs, policies and appeals
- Train Admissions staff in the use of PowerFaids as it relates to recruitment
- Train Business Office staff in the use of PowerFaids as it relates to billings
- Process and calculate withdrawals and refunds
- Update and edit our policy and procedures manual
- Set up, track and calculate married student packages/estimators
- Award endowed and gift scholarship replacement awards to students meeting donor requirements who may or may not have Malone general grants in their aid packages
- Adjust student award packages for resident/commuter changes, part time/full time course load changes, and faculty/staff hourly adjustments
- Perform data entry for all lists received in the office such as band, resident advisors, Senate, outreach groups, J Walter awards, Personal scholarships, etc. and any resulting revisions to packages
- Serve as member of Global Studies/Cross-Cultural Learning and Service Program Committee
- Assurance compliance to all Federal Student Aid Regulations.
- Maintain current knowledge of all Federal legislative policies and changes as they relate to financial aid
- Prepare the departmental budget
- Provide backup and assistance with all responsibilities and tasks assigned to others
- Knowledge of and compliance with NCAA rules and regulations, and with conference rules and regulations regarding the recruitment of athletes.
- Provide annual external audit documents
- Assure Malone’s website information remains current
- Provide annual Net Price Calculator information and post to website
- Prepare data analysis for strategic realignment of institutional aid
- Serve as community liaison to promote college access
- Ensure that loan repayment workshops are available for graduating students
- Provide financial counseling and budget strategies for incoming students
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a relevant field.
- Three to five years progressively responsible supervisory experience and experience in financial aid environment.
- Experience with personal computer applications, including MS Office Suite, Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint…
- Experience with PowerFaids/Jenzabar software operating systems.
- Excellent skills in written and interpersonal communication.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills, ability to resolve conflicts and work with other University offices.
