Director of Undergraduate Admissions

About the position

Under the direction of the Vice President for Enrollment and Marketing, the Director of Undergraduate Admissions serves as a key leader within the Admissions Department, responsible for overseeing the recruitment and enrollment of traditional undergraduate students as well as non-traditional students within undergraduate programs. This role provides strategic guidance, leads a dedicated admissions team, and collaborates closely with University leadership to meet enrollment goals and enhance Malone’s market presence.

$55,000 - $65,000/year

Key Responsibilities

Mission Alignment and Representation

  • Reflect, articulate, and promote the mission, vision, and identity of Malone University, both internally and externally, ensuring alignment with university values.

Strategic Planning and Execution

  • Work collaboratively with the Vice President for Enrollment and Marketing and other senior leaders to develop and implement the University's strategic plan for recruitment and enrollment.
  • Make informed recommendations to senior leadership on annual undergraduate enrollment goals, emerging market trends, and financial aid projections.

Leadership in Recruitment and Admissions

  • Serve as a University expert on recruitment, admissions, and financial aid practices, policies, and strategies.
  • Provide vision, mentorship, and management for undergraduate admissions staff, including direct supervision, goal-setting, and professional development opportunities.
  • Troubleshoot high-level problems and issues concerning admission and other University policies and procedures.
  • Keep up-to-date on national, international, local, and campus issues around enrollment and the potential impacts on the work of the office.
  • Lead regularly occurring staff meetings and admission planning retreats to focus on office progress and development, process improvement, staff development and training, and new and innovative initiatives.

Enrollment Management and Goal Setting

  • Establish measurable goals and objectives for the undergraduate admissions team, ensuring accountability and progress toward enrollment targets.
  • Oversee a small recruitment territory, engaging directly with prospective students and their families.

Financial Aid Strategy Collaboration

  • Work with the Director of Financial Aid and other key team members to create a student aid strategy that balances discount goals with maximizing enrollment yields and revenue for Malone University.

Marketing, Communication, and Content Creation

  • Partner with University Relations to design and execute a comprehensive marketing plan focused on long-term enrollment growth and university positioning.
  • Create and coordinate content for email campaigns in collaboration with the Vice President forEnrollment & Marketing and the Director of Enrollment Operations, ensuring effective outreach and engagement of prospective students.

NCAA Compliance

  • Maintain knowledge of, and compliance with, NCAA and conference rules and regulations related to the recruitment of student-athletes.

Other Duties

  • Fulfill other tasks as assigned to support the Admissions Department and university goals.

Qualifications

  • Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in admissions, recruitment, or a related field.
  • Communication: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Relational and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong relational skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and solve complex problems independently.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Workspace tools and familiarity with CRM systems; experience with admissions software is highly beneficial.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong time management, prioritization, and record-keeping abilities.
  • Confidentiality: High degree of discretion and confidentiality with sensitive information.
  • Travel and Scheduling: Valid driver’s license with availability for frequent regional travel, as well as flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight stays.
