About the position
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Distance Learning, the Instructional Designer person actively collaborates and engages with faculty, students, and staff. In the role of instructional designer, the individual works with faculty to design, build, and revise credit and non-credit online/hybrid courses in accordance with established processes and practices. The individual supports faculty by addressing teaching and learning issues in online/hybrid courses. This person plays a key role in identifying the needs of students, designing and developing learning experiences, and working with subject matter experts to produce courses that are outcomes-driven, engaging, and ADA compliant.
In the role of Faculty and Student support, the individual must have the ability to provide technology support and troubleshooting to faculty, students, and staff. Tasks include: resolving help desk tickets, phone calls and walk-ins regarding Learning Management System questions and issues.

Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities
Instructional Design- Manage course production process from design and planning through course launch, generating on time, aligned, and complete deliverables.
- Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SME) to design and build engaging courses, assessments and activities in accordance with established processes and practices.
- Provide guidance and support to SME through each stage of course development.
- Advocate for positive learning outcomes and user experience.
- Seek out and engage with opportunities to think creatively and find innovative solutions to online course delivery challenges.
- Contribute to the QA process to assure course build quality, manageability, and accessibility.
Faculty and Student Support
- Assists with the creation, development, and archiving of online courses in Moodle. Manages user accounts (e.g., batch creation of users, enrollment/un-enrollment, change passwords, create and assign organization roles).
- Resolves help desk tickets, phone calls, and walk-ins regarding Moodle questions and issues.
- Creates help material (handouts and videos) for faculty, students, and staff to assist with the creation of courses and resolving Moodle issues.
- Provides quality assurance testing for online courses and instructional materials.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education or a closely related field.

Experience in the design and development of technology-based instructional materials and courses in education or equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Experience with various technology tools and multimedia applications.

Strong attention to detail, process, and deadlines.

Communication and interpersonal skills, writing, editing, collaboration, and a positive approach to customer service are required.

Experience developing material and supporting users in a Learning Management System preferred.

Experience troubleshooting and problem-solving online learning management issues preferred.
