Sports Information Director

About the position

The Sports Information Director manages the coverage, support to, and marketing of Malone Universities 20 intercollegiate sports programs, and student-athletes within these programs. Responsibilities include administration of the day-to-day sports information office, management of the sports information budget, producing social media content and promotional materials, supervision of student workers and graduate-assistants and oversight of events including home game management.

$38,500/year

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a commitment to collaboration, embracing a “one team” mindset by partnering with other departments on broader, university-wide initiatives
  • Serve as the primary media liaison for athletics
  • Provide oversight of home game management, serving as a home game administrator for all sports
  • Train and supervise sports information graduate-assistants and 8-10 student-workers
  • Complete performance and academic award submissions
  • Manage the Malone University Athletics Webpage and social media accounts
  • Promote and market student-athletes, programs and the department
  • Coordinate streaming video broadcasts of all volleyball, basketball and soccer competitions
  • Handle Arbiter and Blue Zebra, RefQuest officiating web sites, communicating with the conference office to confirm assignments and payments
  • Maintain and update a historical records archive associated with scores, rosters, schedules, articles, press releases, team and individual statistics, and game notes
  • Chair the Athletics Hall of Fame committee, collaborating with the Alumni Office to promote, plan and facilitate annual HOF festivities
  • Reinforce departmental initiatives that support strategic planning objectives for Athletics
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, fully aware that duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time (with or without notice)
  • Possess strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Two or more years of demonstrated experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge of Stat Crew, website design and maintenance, social media management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree preferred. A proven record of working productively with staff and college aged student-athletes. Three or more years of experience in the field of sports information.

Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours

Early morning, evening, and weekend hours required based upon competition and practice schedules. Significant time standing.
