Graduate Assistant - Center for Student Success

Position Summary

Answer questions and advise students, families and community members of procedures and support services offered through the Center for Student Success. Assist all staff with data processing tasks as necessary to support an effective flow of information.

  1. Work with each of the Center’s Directors and Advisers in a supportive role in accomplishing the essential duties, tasks, and responsibilities of advising, testing, retention, career and academic support services.
  2. Be the initial point of contact for constituents entering the center; answering questions as needed and/or directing visitors to the appropriate contact.
  3. Test Coordination: Work with the Director of Accessibility by gaining a functional knowledge of testing operations, typical tasks, and functions; work with the Director of Accessibility to schedule and administer accommodated, placement and CLEP tests.

Job responsibilities include

  • Update CSS website as needed
  • Schedule and administer tests
  • Design/Create any new pamphlets, flyers, posters for CSS events
  • Scan student information into Onbase
  • Attend CSS and Admissions events as needed
  • Book and test conversion as needed
  • Support registration workshopsMaintain updated information on all CSS handouts and major sheets.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must exhibit a personal understanding of, and operate in concert with the Mission statement and Foundational Principles of the University. A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant, applicable field is required.

A proven ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing is essential. Proven effective relational skills are also required. A demonstrated ability to collaborate with a wide range of people, a commitment to diversity and a demonstrated ability to efficiently and effectively solve problems and complete projects independently is essential. Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel specifically) is required, a readiness to navigate the University proprietary database (Jenzabar) is essential.

Proven time management skills, the ability to prioritize and record keeping abilities are essential. Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality of sensitive materials is essential.
