Graduate Assistant - Department of Education

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Chair and the Licensure and Data Coordinator of the Department of Education (10 hours per week), the Graduate Assistant provides support and works collaboratively with faculty and staff.

Essential duties, tasks and responsibilities for the Department of Education (10 hours per week):

  • Data entry for the Education Department
  • Hire, train, and supervise all students who serve as America Reads tutors; tutoring room reservation, market program to the community, and provide direct oversight of the after school tutoring program; regularly evaluate the tutors and conduct surveys of tutors and families served by the program to gauge program effectiveness.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Be enrolled full-time as a regular degree-seeking graduate student at Malone University
  • Maintain status as a full-time student each semester, including the summer semester
  • Maintain a 3.5 cumulative grade point average for all graduate coursework
  • Demonstrate excellent, professional interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Value working as part of a team and able to work independently as well
  • Exhibit skill in breaking down tasks and procedures for those who need assistance with TK20
  • Be in alignment with Malone University’s mission, foundational principles, Doctrinal Statements 

Remuneration and Work Hours:

  • Tuition remission for graduate program
  • 10 hours of work per week, 36 weeks from August 26th, 2024, in the fall 2024 semester through May 31st, 2025
  • Available to work between 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday

Termination/Resignation:

  • The Graduate Assistant’s performance will be reviewed at the end of each semester. The contract periodis for a duration of one academic year. The contract period of one year is renewable for the second year pending satisfactory evaluations.
  • Malone University has the right to terminate if the needs of the institution change or if the financial resources are such that it is deemed necessary.
  • Malone University has the right to terminate for cause, unsatisfactory work performance and/or academic performance.
  • If the Graduate Assistant elects to resign, the expectation is that the resignation will coincide with the end of an academic year. At such time, tuition remission will cease as will the payment of any stipend. If the Graduate Assistant selects to remain a student in the graduate program, financial responsibility for tuition will revert to the Graduate Assistant for the remaining program of study.
