RUSSELL GARTNER
Visiting Instructor of Music; Director of Choirs
Active as a performer, choral director, voice teacher, and musical director, Russell Gartner currently serves as Head of Choral Activities at Malone University in Canton, OH. He has taught on the faculties of multiple collegiate institutions, most recently as Assistant Professor and Program Chair of Music at Rowan College at Burlington County in Mount Laurel, New Jersey. He has maintained private voice studios in Ohio, Maryland, and New Jersey and has been teaching, conducting, and musical directing throughout the Midwest and Mid Atlantic regions for almost two decades. His students can be found attending top university music and theater programs and on stages around the country.
As a performer, Gartner has several concert, musical theater, and operatic roles to his credit and has appeared with numerous companies on stages in OH, MD, DE, VA, NJ, NY, PA, and Washington DC. Recent concert engagements include performances with both the Vox Renaissance Consort and the AmaDeus Ensemble of Philadelphia, Wilmington Concert Opera, and as the tenor soloist in Ottorino Respighi's "Lauda per la Natività" with the Greater South Jersey Chorus. Recent stage credits include the role of Joe in ”9 to 5 The Musical” and as the originator of the role of Francis Scott Key in workshop performances of “O’er the Ramparts”, an original musical commissioned by the MD State Arts Council.
