Position Description

Malone University seeks an Assistant Professor of Environmental Science to help build and launch an Environmental Science Major which has been identified as a strategic growth priority of the university. This major would expand our existing Environmental Science minor, be housed in the Division of Natural and Health Sciences, and be built in partnership with faculty from our nationally recognized Zoo and Wildlife Biology Program.

Individuals with expertise in Hydrology, Water Management, Environmental Chemistry, Sustainability, GeospatialAnalyses, and/or Environmental Law and Policy are particularly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • The normal teaching load is 12 credits per semester
  • Teach lecture and lab courses such as geology, geospatial analysis, hydrology, soil sciences, environmental law and policy and other courses within the applicant’s area(s) of specialization
  • Advise and mentor students and supervise undergraduate research
  • Engage in scholarship and community service
  • Serve on departmental and institutional committees

Qualifications 

  • Ph.D. in Earth and Environmental Sciences, Hydrological Sciences, Soil Sciences, or a related field by August 2025
  • Strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentoring, professional development and scholarly research
  • Commitment to the Christian faith and a commitment to the integration of faith and learning in the academic discipline

About the Division

The Division of Natural and Health Sciences consists of twelve full-time faculty (six in the nursing program, threebiologists, two chemists, and an exercise science specialist) with varying research interests. The division offers a wide variety of majors within the Natural and Health Sciences.
