Assistant Professor of Social Work

About the position

Malone University seeks an Assistant Professor of Social Work, including the Bachelor’s of Social Work (BSW) Program and the new, soon-to-be launched Master’s of Social Work (MSW) Program. This position may include teaching ground and online courses for both undergraduate and graduate students.

The successful candidate will possess the qualifications necessary to assume primary responsibilities for micro and mezzo levelsocial work practice methods, social work research courses, and other courses as needed. Depending on experience and candidate strengths and experience, the position may include administrative responsibilities for the programs.

$53,200/year

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an average teaching load of 24 credit hours per academic year
  • Willingness to teach courses on campus and online in both the BSW and MSW Programs
  • Review and revise courses
  • Willingness to develop online courses
  • Advise and mentor students
  • Engage in student assessment
  • Work as a team with social work faculty toward continued program development
  • Provide support for accreditation
  • Participate in service opportunities at Malone University, within the community, and within the church
  • Engage in scholarly activities, including research, professional publications, national, state, and community peer-reviewed and invited presentations, etc.
  • Integrate Christian faith into course curriculum
  • Participate in a Christian Faith Integration course during the second year

Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. or DSW degree is preferred
  • A MSW degree without a doctorate may be considered; however, faculty are required to be working towards, or be willing to complete a doctoral degree
  • Master’s in Social Work or the equivalent from a CSWE-accredited university, or the international equivalent, but recognized by CSWE.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in the practice of social work, post-Master’s degree
  • LISW eligibility in Ohio is preferred
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching in higher education; preferably in both the ground and online teaching delivery formats
  • Online course development experience is preferred
  • Personal commitment to the Christian faith
  • Willingness to integrate Christian faith into course curriculum

Malone University

Total enrollment is approximately 2,000 students with 1,600 undergraduates in traditional and degree completion programs and 400 students in one of five master’s programs.
