Rob's Story
Balancing life, work, and school is a difficult task but it is one that reaps unimaginable benefits. As a graduate of the Accelerated Degree Completion Program, Rob Joffre '15 can attest to the success and accomplishment he found by persevering through the struggle of the balancing act.
Like many, Joffre fulfills the role of husband, father, and son which meant he had a lot on his plate. Although he was busy with work, family, and life itself, Joffre knew that in order to provide the best life possible for his family he needed finish the degree that had been left behind. Not only would earning his degree give him new opportunities in the workplace, but it would also ease his mind, knowing he made his family proud.
“My degree got me interviews and opportunities to meet with people who may not have looked twice at my resume without the degree,” said Joffre, who now works as supply chain support for Giant Eagle, Inc. in Bedford Heights. “The Malone Management Program has a great reputation in our area and it is paying off for me already.”
Of course, there were moments of struggle and stress but Joffre was able to succeed by depending on God, his wife, and his motivation. “In order to succeed, you must first trust God to help you and then you must have self-confidence, a good support system, and a strong focus on your goal," said Joffre.
The structure of the Malone program gives adults the ability to make school a part of their routine without compromising other aspects of their life. For Joffre, that meant that he was able to continue working his full time job and spend time with his family all while taking online courses to complete his degree.
Joffre encourages people who are considering going back to school to take a leap of faith and make it happen.
“Don’t put it off” he said. “Find the degree that will help you achieve your goals and go for it, you won’t regret it.”
