Designed to allow teachers to complete the program entirely online within one year and use your current classroom students for practicum objectives.
The online Computer Science Endorsement may be added to any existing Ohio teaching license after completing the required course work. This endorsement is designed to help teachers develop expertise in computer science in order to prepare their students for technological competency in their future careers.
In accordance with evolving Ohio Teaching Licensure requirements, this program allows teachers to focus on crucial computer science skills needed in an increasingly technological world. Program participants learn to develop this knowledge in order to meet the academic, social, and technological needs of all K-12 students.
Formatted in the cohort model, this fully online program can be completed within one year. Courses are 7 weeks in duration.
Only five courses* (15 credit hours) are needed to complete the program:
EDCS 530 Programming & Algorithms for Educators I
EDCS 531 Programming & Algorithms for Educators II
EDCS 532 Introduction to Computer Science for Educators
EDCS 631 Emerging Technologies in the K-12 Classroom
EDCS 632 Teaching Computer Science
*The required 50 hours of practicum experience is embedded in the above listed courses
