Malone University Honored: Chad Minor, Marcia Everett, T.C. Ham, Julia Frankland

Each year, faculty members are honored for their commitments to teaching, service, adjunct teaching, and scholarship as a result of nomination by students, faculty, and administration. This year, there were 25 faculty members nominated for one or more of the awards.

Each faculty member is passionate about their field of expertise and is intentional about integrating faith into the classroom.

Distinguished Faculty Award for Service: Marcia Everett, Ph.D.

“Marcia always goes above and beyond when interacting with students, outside of the expectations of her job. She pours her heart into caring for us Course Assistants (CAs), spending as much time as needed to make sure we feel heard and understood, and I know even outside of the semester of Gen 100 she would still be there if we needed anything. She always has a bright smile for her past students and is very intentional about making both students and faculty feel welcome.”

Distinguished Faculty Award for Adjunct Teaching: Chad Minor, Ph.D.

“I have had Dr. Minor in class multiple times and each time I learn something new. He has a vast area of knowledge on the subject he teaches and is always there to answer questions about work, school, and even life. Dr. Minor has a passion for what he does and it is evident in his classroom. The most notable thing about Dr. Minor is his teaching style. Learning from real-world scenarios and applying them to project-based learning is how I have found I learn best. Christian Ethics in Business was the first class I encountered this and was a class I was actually excited to attend. I would recommend this course be highly encouraged to students in any area of study, as it brought about key life questions and class facilitated discussion.”

Distinguished Faculty Award for Scholarship/Creative Expression: T.C. Ham, Ph.D.

“T.C. is an excellent professor. He is dedicated to his craft. He captures the heart of his teachings as well as the attention of students flawlessly. If there’s any professor that could transform learning into an experience students adore, it would be T.C. hands down. Of course, I love the courses that he is teaching because I’m interested in them, but he helps me to not let it become coursework and drudgery, but rather a key component of my life.”

Distinguished Faculty Award for Teaching: Julia Frankland, Ph.D.

“An outstanding teacher that I have had for three semesters in a row now. Professor Frankland has a way of simplifying course content to allow all to understand and get involved with it. The standard of education in her class is high; it both calls for and allows students to reach excellence if they are willing to work for it.”
