Presented by the Malone University Communication, Visual, and Performing Arts Department, the 2022 Festival will take place at the Canton Palace Theatre in downtown Canton at 7 p.m. on April 28.

The Open Frame Film Festival is a tradition that celebrates short films created by Malone students, including work in narrative shorts, documentary shorts, music videos, and experimental films.

After 90 minutes of short films from the main stage, the Open Frame will include a short Q&A with the filmmakers. Several juried awards will be presented. In addition to these awards, the audience will vote on the winner of the Audience Award.

This event is open to the public. A $1 donation at the door is the entrance fee, although larger donations are welcome. Current students can use their Malone ID for free admission.

During the Festival's two decade run hundreds of student films have been screened, and many of our students go on to write, direct, produce, and edit films and videos professionally. Malone teaches film-making as a way of understanding personal calling and as an opportunity to refine gifts which can be used in many professions.

More information about the Open Frame and our student filmmakers can be found on Facebook or the Instagram account @open.frame.film.fest or at the Open Frame Film Fest informational website.
