Approaching Politics with Humility, Grace, and Reason
Free luncheon & lecture Tuesday, October 23 12 noon-2 p.m. Brehme Conference Center
On Tuesday, October 23, Malone University's Center for Christian Faith & Culture is pleased to host a lunch & lecture with Wheaton College's Professor of Political Science Amy Black. Black will explain the purposes and limitations of our system and help listeners create realistic expectations for government. While God’s truth is perfect, human application of it is not, a reality that shouldn’t deter us from engaging in debate and staying informed. Rather, it should challenge us to raise our standards for how we speak about the issues—and those in office.
It’s time to approach political divides with an extra measure of grace. Success begins with seeking God’s honor first and foremost, regardless of where we fall on the political spectrum. Don’t limit yourself to chatting about the weather.
Amy E. Black is Professor of Political Science at Wheaton College (IL). She earned her Ph.D. in Political Science at M.I.T. A specialist in American Government, her research interests include religion and politics, the Presidency, and Congress. She is a past president of Christians in Political Science and served as an American Political Science Association Congressional Fellow in the office of Representative Melissa A. Hart. She is the author of several books, including her most recent titles, The Church and Politics, Honoring God in Red or Blue, Religion and American Politics: Classic and Contemporary Perspectives, and Beyond Left and Right: Helping Christians Make Sense of American Politics.
