Malone Opera Theatre launches first-time dinner theatre with musical revue titled “You Will Be Found”
Malone Opera Theatre will present “You Will Be Found,” featuring selections from beloved opera and musical productions. This year, for the first time, a dinner theatre option is also available. Tickets are now on sale for both shows, running on November 17 and 18, 2017.
A musical revue, “You Will Be Found” includes selections to fit a variety of audience preferences ranging from opera standards to classic and contemporary musical theatre, including "Mon coeur s'ouvre a ta voix" from Saint-Saëns's Samson et Dalila and "Men Herr Marquis" from Die Fledermaus, and well as “Corner of the Sky” from Pippin and “You Will Be Found” from the Tony award-winning musical Dear Evan Hansen.
Audience members will have two ways to experience the show, through traditional recital format or a full dinner theatre dinner experience. Seating is limited for both performances and tickets can be purchased online.
Malone Opera Theatre is a small mixed group of voices selected by audition. The group performs once per semester with a recital of excerpts of beloved opera classics. Their recent productions include Mozart favorites, The Marriage of Figaro and The Magic Flute, as well as Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods (a collaboration with the Malone Theatre department) and Amahl and the Night Visitors. Heather Curtis serves as artistic director for Malone Opera Theatre.
“It is such an honor to serve as the new artistic director of Malone Opera Theatre,” said Heather Curtis, instructor of applied voice at Malone. “We have a crop of new students who are budding opera lovers, and it is important to me that we maintain the legacy with which the program was built.”
“You Will Be Found” will run for two nights in the Stewart Room of the “Barn” (the Randall Campus Center) on Malone’s campus. Call 330.471.8231 for more information.
