Malone University hosts FAFSA Completion Open House on December 7
In an effort to demonstrate Malone’s ongoing commitment to walk alongside students and their families through the whole admissions process, the University announced today that it will offer a free FAFSA Completion Open House on December 7 so that families who are new to university financial aid can easily jump-start the process before Christmas break.
"We recognize that financial aid can cause stress and anxiety under typical circumstances, especially for families who are doing it for the first time,” said Eric Young, Ph.D., vice president for enrollment and marketing. “After last year’s hurdles with the updated version of the FAFSA, we want to do everything we can to help lessen the pressure families may feel as they navigate this process. Offering this convenient workshop is just one way we can do that.”
On Saturday, December 7, Malone will provide computer access and professional financial aid assistance from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Families may come and go at their leisure, but are asked to R.S.V.P. so that counselors can be prepared to assist them.
“As we get ready to embark on another financial aid season, our office will do what we’ve always done: serve Malone University families and process FAFSA information as carefully and thoroughly as possible,” said Pam Pustay, director of financial aid. “Completing last year’s FAFSA proved to be a very frustrating and stressful experience for many of our students and families. To make this year’s FAFSA completion as easy and stress-free as possible, we want to personally assist our future students and their families as they complete their FAFSAs.”
At the event, Malone’s financial aid counselors will assist families on a first-come, first-served, basis. To help the process to go as smoothly as possible, participants should bring a student and parent social security number and 2023 tax returns. If possible, please request a Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID in advance, for both student and parent. To create an account, visit: https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch.
“Completing the FAFSA is the key to maximizing your financial aid,” said Pustay. “We want to help alleviate the fears and apprehensions new families have about the FAFSA and my helpful and friendly team is excited to walk alongside you so you can cross the financial aid finish line. It’s just one more way we want to demonstrate Christian hospitality to families who are considering Malone."
