Malone University to host health and wellness fair
Malone University will observe Mental Health Awareness Month in October, and to celebrate the regional resources that are available to students and the community, the Institution will host a health and wellness fair on Wednesday, October 9.
Made possible by a grant from Ohio Department of Higher Education, the fair will be held in the Johnson Center for Worship & the Fine Arts from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. It is free and open to the public.
“At Malone, it’s important to us that our students receive holistic support while they pursue their education – this includes their physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health,” said Melody Scott, vice president for student development. “We believe that, in order to help our students be compassionate and effective servant leaders upon graduation, we should raise awareness about holistic wellness. This event is just one way we do that; we want them to have a fuller sense of the resources available to them when needed.”
The event will include free screenings, like blood pressure checks and hearing screenings. Faith Yoga will also be offered a couple times throughout the day, and other health & wellness organizations will be present, including but not limited to: Anytime Fitness, Canton City Health Department, Compass, Coleman Crisis Center, Domestic Violence Shelter, Eva Women’s Health Clinic, Holistic Family Chiropractic, Ohio Guidestone, the Red Cross, StarkMAR, Stark County Women’s Health Center, and a visit from therapy dogs.
