Malone University's Day of Giving Exceeds $100,000
With gifts from 350 donors, Malone University raised $104,000 in its fourth annual Day of Giving Monday, held each year on or around the anniversary of Malone University's founding on March 17.
"Our fourth annual Day of Giving was our largest and most exciting to date. It’s humbling to watch as alumni, faculty, staff and friends generously give to support Malone students," said Paula Calhoun '01, Director of Annual Giving, Grants & Prospect Management. "We are so grateful for the impact this day will have in the lives of students. This helps make it possible for them to receive an education that integrates faith and learning, preparing them to becomes leaders in their community after graduation."
This year—the 127th 'birthday'—featured a special lunch for faculty and staff donors, two radio broadcasts (from 95.5 The Fish and 95.9 The Light), and prizes for students. Members of the pep band and the student ensemble "Amplified" performed during the lunch. Professor of History Jacci Stuckey also read an excerpt from her book about the University's history and participants won prizes for trivia.
The first Day of Giving yielded approximately $10,000, and contributions have grown substantially each year.
"Even more important than reaching our goal, is the impact this will have on our students and the ways in which this will enhance their educational and faith experiences here at Malone," said President David King. "This support is an affirmation of Malone and our mission. Philanthropic gifts from alumni, friends and faculty and staff serve as a vote of confidence in our leadership, our faculty, our programs, and our students. Our partners are coming forward in record numbers to proclaim their support for all of the good things that are happening in and out of our classrooms."
