Emergency Response Preparedness
Parents and families are are important partners helping Malone keep students safe. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with our emergency response plans.
Sending your child to college can feel overwhelming, whether the campus is around the corner, across the country, or on a different continent. You may be anxious about all the new situations your student will experience without you, including dealing with a campus wide emergency. We understand that and we want you to know that the safety of all of our students is a top priority at Malone.
We strategically invest in our safety team and campus staff to ensure that, in the case of an emergency, they are properly trained and equipped to respond.
A few things you should know, and ways you can help prepare your student, include:
- Encouraging your student to sign up for Malone's message alert system by downloading the Campus Shield App through Apple's iTunes Store or Google Play Store. Parents may also download the app to receive notifications of campus alerts.
- Familiarize yourself with the channels we use to communicate in times of crisis: Facebook, Instagram , and www.malone.edu.
- Encourage your student to be vigilant about their personal safety. Remind them to lock their car doors and residence hall doors.
- In the event of an on-campus emergency, students should call the Office of Campus Safety. The office is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If a student dials from a campus phone, the 24-hour emergency extension is x8111; they should also save the full number in their cell phone: 330-471-8111.
