Alyssa Carrington '26, Marketing
Alyssa Carrington ‘26, a freshman marketing major, wanted to attend a college closer to home that had a small, strong faith-filled community. She also wanted a place where it’d be easy to get to know students and faculty and build strong relationships.
“I attended Cornerstone Christian Academy, a small Christian high school in Willoughby Hills,” she said. “I got to know pretty much everyone at my school and knew that I wanted something similar in college. I also like that the teachers cared about each student and their faith journeys.”
Given that Malone is also a small school, Carrington believes that it will give her a similar experience, and Carrington got a taste of what Malone was like when she worked with the admissions office as a senior in high school.
“I actually got a chance to shadow in the Malone admissions office for a week during my senior year,” she said. “I attended meetings and shared people’s Malone stories. This made me realize marketing was really something that I loved and wanted to pursue. I enjoyed my time learning about how the admissions process worked and meeting different people, and the experience emphasized that Malone was the right fit for me!”
With the help and instruction from professors, Carrington is honing the skills she has while developing new ones. She enjoys her classes and is doing her best to learn as much as she can.
“I love the professors in marketing that I’ve had in class so far. They’re good at teaching and have passion and expertise in their field. They care about all of us, and they want to see us succeed in the field of marketing. I know I could go to them with any questions about the field and they would help me find answers!”
Carrington isn’t sure yet what she wants to do with her degree as her college career is just starting, but she hopes to go into advertising or another marketing adjacent field. Carrington also loves art and design and hopes to utilize her creative skills.
“As I continue my education at Malone, I hope to gain experience in different areas of marketing. I received a general understanding of them in my principles of marketing class, and I’m still exploring which ones interest me the most.”
