Lead the worship of God’s people

Do you want to help the Church answer its call to worship in the twenty-first century? Our Worship Arts program will prepare you to meet the needs of any church setting by giving you a solid foundation in biblical studies and Christian theology, as well as classical music and contemporary worship styles.

More importantly, it will inspire you towards gratitude for God’s goodness in your own worship of Him.

This program will prepare you for vocational music ministry by giving you in-demand worship leadership ministry skills that today’s churches need. You’ll explore a variety of ministry contexts and prepare for graduate studies if you so choose.  

What classes will I take?

Worship Arts will provide you with holistic training for vocational music ministry, with courses including:

  • Music theory and keyboard harmony
  • Music Technology
  • Choral Conducting
  • Vocal Pedagogy
  • Ensemble participation and private music lessons
  • Hermeneutics
  • Communicating the Christian Faith
  • Evangelism and Discipleship in the New Testament
  • Pastoral Care
  • Cross-cultural Ministries in the 21st century

What can I do with this major?

Worship Arts will prepare you to serve the Church in a variety of careers, including:

  • Music minister 
  • Worship pastor
  • Missionary, evangelist, or teacher
  • Worship leader
  • Director of worship and drama
  • Director of creative arts

Internships

Gain real-world ministry experience through exciting internships. Our Worship Arts program is at its best with hands-on experiences. Through our unique internship program, you’ll access opportunities to serve alongside church leaders, non-profits, or even overseas missions. Our professors help connect you with local churches and para-church organizations throughout the Northeast Ohio region—and you are welcome to select other internships throughout the nation or world! Our students have interned at large and small churches. Just a few include: The ChapelFirst Friends ChurchRivertree Christian Church, and NewPointe Community Church.
